* Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that the state will move an application before the Supreme Court on Monday seeking modification of its September 20 order on the Cauvery issue.

In his letter, copies of which were released to the press, Siddaramaiah has informed Modi about the resolution passed by both the Houses of the Legislature on Friday.
Siddaramaiah has stated that the modification petition will seek change of schedule of Cauvery water release to Tamil Nadu. The Supreme Court, in its interim order on September 20, had directed Karnataka to release 6,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu upto September 27.
The state legislature on Friday passed a resolution directing that the "state government should not draw water from the existing storage in the four reservoirs of the state, and save the water to meet the drinking water needs of the towns and villages in Cauvery basin and for Bengaluru."
"The government has no intention to disregard any of the orders of the Supreme Court," the letter states. Reported by Deccan Herald 3 hours ago.
