The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Governments of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to file reports on the recent violence related to the Cauvery row. Taking suo motu cognizance of reports of large scale violence in Bengaluru and other parts in protest against the the Supreme Court's direction for releasing Cauvery water, it has asked both the governments to file their reports within four weeks.
